Lithophyllum corallinae (P. Crouan & H. Crouan) Heydrich (A)

We have only a few genetically verified collections of this species, all subtidal at 4 m depth on Corallina officinalis Linnaeus from southern ME (Image A). Individual crusts are only 1-5 mm in diameter and 80-400 um thick, typically with eight or more cells in the erect filaments, with uniporate sporangial conceptacles that are convex with 6-7 cover cells (Sears 2002).
